Like any Scout Group we are always looking for adult volunteers to help run the various sections (and to assist in other ways). Every section would benefit from more help and we do need to open more sections just to cater for the numbers of young people who want to join. Our needs change from time to time as people come and go and we try to keep these pages up to date to reflect this, but if you have any interest please get in touch, we are unlikely to turn you away!
Ideally we look for uniformed leaders who are prepared to undertake Scout Association training, but there are plenty of other leadership and helper roles that may suit other people. Also, as well as these leadership roles some of the sections could do with help with administration (looking after records, finance etc) or occasional help with particular programme sessions.
As well as these roles working directly with the young people on a weekly basis we
need additional members on the Group Executive Committee. The administration of the
whole Group is run by the Executive Committee made up of the Group Chairman, The
Group Treasurer, The Group Secretary, parent representatives, other elected members
and the Group Scout Leader and the Leaders of each section. We don’t have, but would
like, a Fund Raising Committee (acting as a sub-
Adult volunteers in any capacity are not restricted to being parents/carers of young
people in the Group. We have many who are, and many more who are not -
More information about the various roles, about training and about other aspects of volunteering is available on the Scout Association website.
If you’d like to volunteer or to talk to someone please contact the Group Scout Leader, John Green, 01949 875057, gsl@1stbinghamscouts.org.uk

At the moment we have waiting lists for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
For parents hoping to get their children (boys and girls) into Beavers when they are six we recommend that they put their name on the waiting list no later than the child’s 5th birthday. Any later and they may not get a place before they are too old! The Beaver waiting list is maintained by Ian Noble: join@1stbinghamscouts.org.uk.
For other sections we have no immediate prospect of finding places for young people wanting to join. This is simply because we don’t currently have enough space even for those already in the Group. However we are happy to take names on the waiting list for Cub and Scout places.
We will, of course, observe the Scout Association requirement that any existing member of a Group outside our District who moves into Bingham will be found a place.
Anyone wishing to enquire about the possibility of joining should contact: join@1stbinghamscouts.org.uk.
